Per-meal breakdown
Carbs are front-loaded earlier in the day, protein stays roughly even meal to meal, and fat rises later to fill the gap.

Why the shift across the day: insulin sensitivity is highest in the morning and declines as the day goes on, so the same carbs eaten at breakfast produce a smaller blood-sugar swing than they would at dinner - carbs are shifted toward earlier meals to take advantage of that. Protein is kept nearly flat across meals because muscle protein synthesis responds better to a steady supply (roughly 25–30g per meal, several times a day) than to one large dose. Fat has no comparable timing effect, so it's used to fill in the calories carbs leave behind later in the day.
